What is this about?

This book is about seeing yourself more clearly: how you became who you are, and the potential of your own vitality. I explain how unconscious love shapes our lives out of an inner necessity, and how this process never ceases.

In the first part, we examine our inner echoes from the past from the present perspective. When these echoes still determine us today, we act, feel and think like teenagers, children or unborn babies in the womb. This demonstrates how ‘dependent love’ ensures our survival from before birth through to adolescence, making no mistakes along the way.

The second part of the book examines the other pole of love: ‘self-love’. This is concerned with growth. Rather than being interested in survival and control, it focuses on development and devotion. Using the consciousness model and the Life Integration Process (LIP) developed by Wilfried Nelles, I demonstrate how self-love can lead us to a more relaxed inner adulthood.

The third part uses typical examples from my work to demonstrate how and why we unconsciously activate survival skills developed in the past when faced with similar situations today. As soon as we acknowledge these inner ‘echoes’ and entrust ourselves to the present moment, we feel calmer and freer. In the process, the fundamental principles of a psychology of presence become apparent.
